The room was a little dated and basic but clean. The food was delicious and there was plenty of choice. Especially the meat was great! The service of all the staff was friendly and good and we had a nice chat with everyone. Both the dive staff and the people from the restaurant. The dive center was very well organized and clean. The rental of equipment was quite expensive. Also when my own regulator broke down and was repaired by them I got both a bill for the repair and the full price for the 3 days "rental" of the regulator. My rented diving suit had also seen its best days with all the holes and tears. Anyway. Furthermore, the pool was not really top notch and there were no sunbeds or chairs outside/around to sit on, except for a wooden bench, which was a shame since there was nothing else to do around the dive center.
The water/diving was nice, but don't expect beautiful corals. The weather could turn quickly, resulting in high waves and rough water. Despite the competence of the staff, I would say: Diving in South-Africa is not for the sissies. Really only go diving there if you already have some more diving experience. And bring a 7mm suit. I had 5mm and a shirt underneath and was cold every dive. The water temperature was around 22 degrees (Nov/Dec).
The extra dives in Protea Banks were a waste of money for me, but others had better luck a few days later. That remains nature, you never know what you are going to see!
Also saw many sharks, 3 large manta rays, turtles, rays and much more.
