The ship would have to be renovated. The hull and the rear part of the ship are constantly black and dirty due to the exhaust system.

I was in early October for 2 weeks on Galapagos safari with the Calipso and all around satisfied. The ship is in very good condition, the 8 cabins all have panoramic windows, even in the spacious bathrooms, so that you could watch the dolphins or sea lions outside even while showering. The lounge corner is cozy, the sun deck would have been great if we had more sun.... The food that chef Darwin (!) conjures up is very good and pleasantly varied, there was hardly any repetition in 14 days. The dive deck is pleasantly spacious and practical, 4 hot showers were a boon after sometimes very cold dives. The camera table is large, but seemed to me to come to its limits when many divers have very large photo and video equipment with them. A small drawback: since the panoramic windows in the cabins can not be opened and it is quite stuffy without air conditioning, but you also do not want to catch a cold, you always try to find a setting of the (by the way very quiet) AC, where it is not too cold and drafty, and that is not so easy. But maybe others have managed better.
The whole organization of the tour went smoothly (was a full charter from Wirodive dive trips). The guides Eduardo and Peter were not only good underwater (especially Peter), but also tremendously knowledgeable during our shore excursions. The entire crew does a great job: always friendly, good humored and helpful, before and after the dives everyone was on the dive deck to help with donning and doffing gear and getting into the pangas. Even the most experienced fellow divers with us said they had rarely (or never) had such a good crew.
Otherwise, we saw almost everything on this tour (penguins under water were unfortunately missing): huge schools of hammerhead sharks, partly with whale shark swimming across, moon fish, manta rays, Galapagos and silky sharks, various rays, iguanas and sea lions, large schools, small stuff, diving cormorants ... an all around successful tour on a great boat with great fellow divers.
