I was particularly looking forward to the Tepanee - I had been there 2 years ago.
Large resort with a small beach and mini marine reserve right on the doorstep.
Access for snorkeling in the protected area is now strictly controlled and monitored.
The beach section itself is completely closed.
Had booked a private transfer this time.
A proper delivery for the resort was taken on the boat.
I would have liked a little service (a bottle of water and a towel) for us guests on board - there was nothing.
When we arrived at the resort, we were immediately told what rules we had to follow and what all the extra costs were.
The fact that we were "repeat guests" was not on our radar.
This actually shows quite well that you can no longer expect individual service here. Everything is fine - but not Filipino warm and not very individual.
There was also a misunderstanding when booking the bungalow.
If you like a "view", you should definitely book a "Deluxe" with a direct sea view.
Most of the "superior" rooms have a "view" of the harbor. However, this is obscured by huge trees.
During our 1st stay we had a Superior on the sea side in the 2nd row behind the Deluxe - we had expected this again.
Fortunately, after consultation, we were able to change to 2 rooms on the upper floors of the standard bungalows the next day and at least had light and a limited sea view.
Drinking water refill costs extra. Only a small amount but somehow unnecessary; that makes the room price a EUR more expensive.
Every morning you have to pick up a new authorization card for breakfast at reception.
The beach towels are only changed free of charge every 3 days.
Etc.
I am very much in favor of saving resources - but here you sometimes feel downright reprimanded.
A lot of things are just "little things" - but they make all the difference at comparable resorts.
Conclusion: If you are not a passionate "muck diver", a visit to Malapascua is worthwhile, especially because of the thresher sharks.
Unfortunately, there are now masses of them.
The Tepannee is perfectly fine for a short stay.
The Italian coffee at breakfast is amazing - but unfortunately you don't get to enjoy it at all during the early trips to the thresher sharks.
Personally, I would plan a maximum of 5 nights here: arrive, 3 days to the thresher sharks and possibly once to Gato Island, travel on.
The dive sites close to the coast are very tide-dependent. What we were offered there is much better on other islands.
In my opinion, the island is not worthwhile for non-divers.
