A lot has changed here too since my last visit.
The MTD diving center is not located in the hotel - 15 min walk.
For the dives, you are picked up at the resort by a small boat and usually dropped off there again.
Information for the next diving day is provided quite late in the evening and via WhatsApp.
For the longer trips:
Start around 5 a.m., transfer to the large day boat.
For the thresher sharks and Gato Island, you actually have to book 3 dives per trip - as we had booked a 2-dive package in advance, we were fortunately able to decide individually each day.
Sometimes very large groups on board - but the dives are divided up well, usually 4 guests per guide.
Breakfast and snacks on board are included and good - if you like, you can also book lunch.
It's best to leave even earlier - there were sometimes almost 20 boats on site and masses of divers in the water (much more than 2 years ago).
Fortunately, our dive guide led our group against the crowds - which was really worthwhile.
A wonderful diving spot not only because of the thresher sharks (steep walls, coral fans ...).
The "local dives" are done by small boat. Departure approx. 8.30 am depending on the tide.
The base itself was overcrowded - our equipment was still stored in the boxes after the diving day. No sinks - no possibility to dry.
The dive sites near the island didn't really convince me (I hadn't been there before). Depending on the tide and weather conditions, not much can be done. Muck divers will certainly get their money's worth - but less suitable for coral reef lovers.
Nevertheless, the dive guide made every effort to ensure we had a great day's diving.
Conclusion:
Crowd at the thresher shark reef.
The dive site and the animals are beautiful and of course everyone wants to see them.
In my opinion, however, the capacity limit has now been exceeded.
For coral fans, there are much more beautiful diving areas in the Philippines.
