We wanted to see turtles—and we got to see turtles! Plus sharks, Napoleon fish, nudibranchs, and so much more. All the dive guides we dived with around Bunaken were very experienced and could read our minds. Before heading out, they always asked what we’d like to see, and they chose the dive sites accordingly. It was great that all our fellow divers had the same taste as we did :) The night dive was also absolutely amazing.

The dive center is located on the other side of the road from the Lumba Resort, so you have to cross the busy Trans-Sulawesi Highway. But the security staff take care of this.
The base has everything you need. Two boats are available: a smaller, faster one travels the 22 km to Bunaken in about 1 hour. The larger catamaran is slower and is used more for the dive sites on the coast north/south of the resort.
Bunaken is mainly wall diving, with lots of shoals, sometimes huge turtles, but also macro. On the coast there is mostly macro, and a wreck worth seeing ("Molas Wreck").
You set off from the resort at around 8.30 am and return after 2 dives, for example at 2 pm. A night dive near the resort can be organized.
