The dive sites were not special, many corals were damaged from fishing with explosives.

What's particularly great is that it's a small resort with just a few bungalows. Florian, the manager, runs the resort very personally and provides lots of information about the country and its people. It is a barefoot island. There is a long table where everyone eats together.

Hello dear Tourmare Team
We, the diving school Happy-Divres-Asselfingen visited the island Metita with 15 divers for 3 weeks.
The journey via Frankfurt-Doha-Jakarta - Ternate - inland transfer via Tobelo and speedboat to the island - worked perfectly. It is certainly exhausting, but definitely doable. In retrospect, it was worth the effort for everyone. Thanks to the Tourmare team for the great preparation.

The dream island in the middle of nowhere ????
Welcomed by Florian, the base manager, we were allowed to see the bungalows for the first time and were thrilled. They are now beautifully overgrown and surrounded by flowers and palm trees.
Clean, large, with an open bathroom and walk-in closet, they really are a dream.
Florian and his team:
In 25 years of diving trips, I have rarely experienced such a dedicated, friendly and helpful staff team. Many thanks for that.
The food was very varied and simply delicious over 3 weeks.
Over the entire 3 weeks, no one caught any stomach or intestinal problems, which says everything about the cleanliness and quality. The drinking water from our own desalination plant was very wholesome.
The dive sites
With Blacktip Point (our favorite dive site), the island has a great house reef dive site. The blacktip sharks are always there and come up to you at arm's length. But there are also plenty of snails, turtles, seahorses and of course the walking shark, which was discovered here.
The mobiles at Manta Point are not super numerous but at least there were 5 of them and they were nice to see.
The Muck dive site is sensational with its snails and rare animals.
All in all, we can say that the island and especially its team are more than worth the trip and we would love to come back.
However, I don't want to conceal the fact that even here on the last small island, affluent garbage has arrived. The beach area in front of the resort is kept clear but the rest of the island looks really awful in places.
Of course we talked to Florian about it, but we also recognized the problem.
Collecting the plastic waste is not the problem, but then where to put it. The government lacks a concept here. The resorts need to work together better and build up pressure.
Waste avoidance is already being implemented quite well at the resort itself. No plastic drinking straws. Plastic cups etc. and everything is also packed in reusable crockery on the trips

Planned renovation measures :
A wooden floor is to be installed in the restaurant area. All we can say here is: PLEASE NOT. It was the barefoot island feeling that we liked best. Playing pool barefoot in the sand or feeling the sand under your feet while eating is priceless.
Also the expansion with more bungalows: - Please keep it moderate here so as not to destroy the family character of the island.

We can therefore only recommend to everyone - don't wait too long to visit this dream island.

The journey is very long and we booked the Metita based on a report in the diving magazine, as it advertised great dive sites, big fish and small animals. Unfortunately, our expectations were not met.
The bungalows are super nice and big. The location is also super nice. Unfortunately, you can't look to the left and right. During our walk around the island we were really shocked as there was garbage and plastic everywhere, and when asked why no one was clearing it away, the resort management (who have only been on the island since May) said that the owners didn't want it, it should only be clean in front of the resort. This is incomprehensible to us. The food still has a lot of room for improvement, it wasn't really varied. Rice, chicken, fish, vegetables and fruit or pudding for dessert every day. The dive sites have beautiful corals but no abundance of fish, and some of the dive guides don't really know the sites. Too bad about the island because the long journey is disproportionate to what is offered, we made the best of it and recovered well. The massages were great!

somehow the metita resort seems to have a little bit of worm in it. the current resort management may not be convincing. lack of joy in the work perhaps or even missed the vocation? in any case, I did not have the feeling that the resort management was interested in whether I feel comfortable or whether the diving brings joy? the staff are trying to make up for the deficit of the management, but that would not really be their job.
the dive sites were praised everywhere and unfortunately did not correspond to the picture and of course also the expectations, which had appeared in front of my inner eye before the trip. under water i had the feeling that it is fished out. occasionally a small school of fish, a few sharks, a few snails, crabs, lobsters. but grosso modo it was very dull under water. the corals may still look pretty but for beautiful corals the long trip would not have been necessary. fishing is still going on despite the marine park. we saw quite a few boats fishing with nets - but if everyone looks the other way, this will certainly not change. plastic is also a huge problem, but no one feels responsible for it - if you go around the island, the plastic piles up without end. it's a pity, the island and the small houses would be very pretty.

Since the change of management, things are in a bad way, especially the kitchen. Portions too small, no seconds and absoult boring menus.
Bungolow very generous, but would have to be regularly wiped under the bed.
Current management (Florian) neither interested in the island (large plastic accumulation on the island), nor in the guests. We arranged the diving with the guides themselves.
