It could be really nice here!
The secluded location and the absence of any animation we felt as paradise. If a few things were worked on here, this small hotel could be a true diver's paradise. We have been to Egypt many times and know the standards of the country.
Rooms: the furnishings and size of the rooms we found totally okay, even if in need of renovation in many corners. We had booked a room with sea view - until today we do not understand the difference to the other rooms. Only 5 suites have a direct sea view. All other rooms have side sea view, either to the south side with pool or to the north side with desert. First we were given a room to the north side on the 2nd floor, this had like all rooms on this floor to the north side only a tiny, nested balcony and therefore seemed very dark. Then we got a room to the south side, nice balcony and side sea view. Unfortunately, here at night you can hear the diesel-powered electricity generator, which is located directly in front of the hotel so loud that you have the feeling to sleep at a motorway service station. After 3 nights we changed the room again - back to the north side, but on the 3rd floor, here the balconies are big and it is much quieter. The view of the desert and the sea has pleased us here very well.
Food: the food is a cheek. It goes without saying that there is less choice in a smaller hotel than in larger complexes. However, this small selection should at least be good. For us it was a hard time, we are vegetarians and on some evenings we had the choice between pappy white rice and sour mashed potatoes. Since even the only vegetable dish had minced meat mixed in, we were left with salads. However, the guests around us who ate meat were equally unenthusiastic about the food. The so-called snacks that were supposed to be available at the bar in between and that are part of the AI, consisted of dry sweet parts that were left over from breakfast. We have never eaten so bad in Egypt.
Service: the staff is partly very nice but the larger part seems to be very unmotivated.
Hygiene: the hygiene concept of the hotel seems to consist of simply no hygiene concept. No masks, no gloves, the disinfectant dispensers are so untrustworthy that it is better to avoid them.
From the beach bar, one has a beautiful view over the sea - but one should better not drink anything here, unless one has an own cup. The plastic cups are so disgusting and dirty, we have never seen such dirty rinsing water in which the cups are briefly dipped before they are given to the next guest. Even without Corona completely unacceptable!
The hotel is very quietly located in a supposed nature reserve. If you take a walk along the coast it brings tears to your eyes - rubbish, rubbish, rubbish....
If it wasn't for the beautiful house reef and the extra divers, the hotel would be empty. Unfortunately, the hotel manager sees it completely different.
