Our vacation on the Philippine island of Cebu was brilliant, we really liked it. Therefore, also spontaneously and gladly on my part a feedback:
A very nice resort with beautiful vegetation and 2-part pool. We had a great bungalow with solid equipment and nice terrace. The massages were very good so my wife used and enjoyed them almost every 2 days (or even daily). The restaurant was impressively good with super tasty cuisine a la carte where you could choose between different dishes and also had other options. Breakfast was always the same but absolutely fine in terms of what was on offer, especially as there was always fresh delicious fruit in addition to a wide variety of egg dishes and the buffet.
The diving was very good. Unfortunately, the reef was badly affected by the typhoon that passed through the previous year, which damaged the coral. But the base had very good guides who knew what they were doing and what they could show you. It was possible to go to different dive sites with the boat, so that 2 dives with OF break were possible with it in the morning. During this tea and fruit was served on board. In the afternoon also a dive (with the boat or in the house reef) was offered and I also made several night dives. Only 1x I got for it a no with the request for understanding, because the crew of the dive center at the bar Lifemusik performed, to which you could sip cocktails or a beer. This compensated with great music and good mood.
I mostly got my money's worth out of the diving, even though I've had dive sites with better visibility. The delicate re-growing corals and the still existing fish population make me optimistic that the reefs will recover, but this will take time. There are also great drop-offs with nice growth and great little caves where there was a lot to discover. We saw (and photographed) frogfish, a huge school of sardines that made it dark above us, ghost ragfish, discom shells, sea snakes, mandarin fish, scorpionfish, various nudibranchs, shrimp, flatworms, crabs and crayfish, even pygmy seahorses, other macro as well as turtles without end. Really great. I was thrilled and took hundreds of photos that were met with great enthusiasm back home. In total I made 21 dives, each lasting between 60 and 75 minutes.
Unfortunately, my wife does not dive, so she had to snorkel in the house reef. The corals leave much to be desired for the reasons mentioned above, but one discovers this and that. And sometimes she had encounters with several turtles at the same time, where she had to decide. Partly she could watch them eating for 45 minutes at a stretch. And at the end of the day, a fantastic sunset with dreamlike postcard motifs always awaited us.
We also took tuk-tuk to visit a local market. Thereby, of course, you can see the poverty of the population. In addition, we booked a full-day canyoning tour on site at the resort, which was spectacular. I always wanted to do that. We were taken up into the mountains on motorcycles and then, wearing life jackets and helmets, entered a canyon where we descended along the waterways. With rapids, waterfalls, but also jumps into the water from up to 10m height. A lasting experience, but also exhausting.
In sum, we liked it super, even if the arrival and departure was already straaziös because of the duration.
We can definitely imagine a repeat or an adequate destination. The mix for a diver and a non-diver has fit well. In this way, many thanks to Reisecenter Federsee, through whom we booked the trip and who have organized everything well.
