Christiane Waldrich, head of the department, is herself an excellent underwater photographer (her photos can be found in many underwater magazines and in identification books) . She has an excellent knowledge not only of marine nudibranchs, but also of the entire biology of the marine world. She has transferred this expertise to a great extent to the dive guides as well, with a maximum diver/guide ratio of 2:1 (I had a personal guide alone). He always gave me tips before the dive, which equipment is best suited for the dive. Also the other dive guides are always very friendly and take care of everything that has to do with diving. This also applies to old or handicapped people. From the technical side there were no problems. Also offered are Blackwater Dives, which are very rewarding, especially if you have the right camera for it (fast Auto Focus, which is unfortunately not the case with my camera) so that I only did such a dive once. You can discover unglablich fascinating creatures there!
About the dive sites: my interest is pretty much exclusively in the macro area too, so the dive sites (no current!) were selected accordingly. It is possible to make very productive dives even from the beach of the resort. A part of the night dives (obligatory for me) we did from there. A maximum of 4 dives per day are possible; Nitrox is offered.
On the total of about 100 dives I did there, we therefore did not visit beautiful coral reefs, but typical muck diving sites. For me this was the optimal decision, but if you want to see really untouched coral reefs, you can do this, especially in the northwest of Bali (mini approached). However, one should first find out whether this is optimally possible from this resort.
Although the famous "Liberty Wreck" is reachable from the resort in 10 min by boat, I have the impression that adventure and Tec divers (inside) are better off in other resorts. For people interested in biology, Villa Markisa is one of the best resorts I have seen so far. I hope to be able to explore the UW landscapes there again soon.
