The guys from the dive center were at home at their sites. We were shown so much. Frogfish in white, patterned & in orange, Electric Calm, seahorses in red, patterned & in yellow. Then the many nudibranchs.......& ghost pipefish. Great spots with very short boat trips. The extra trip to Nusa Penida brought us manta rays.
One disadvantage is the small sinks at the base. But sometimes we only dived with 2 divers. Complaining at a high level...

Diving goes directly from the beach, there you have to walk over stones, if there are high waves, but of course will help, also to the boat you have to swim, so you dress in the base, dive sites with muck or corals are diveable, depending on your desire. Who stands on Nudis, is here exactly right!

Christiane Waldrich, head of the department, is herself an excellent underwater photographer (her photos can be found in many underwater magazines and in identification books) . She has an excellent knowledge not only of marine nudibranchs, but also of the entire biology of the marine world. She has transferred this expertise to a great extent to the dive guides as well, with a maximum diver/guide ratio of 2:1 (I had a personal guide alone). He always gave me tips before the dive, which equipment is best suited for the dive. Also the other dive guides are always very friendly and take care of everything that has to do with diving. This also applies to old or handicapped people. From the technical side there were no problems. Also offered are Blackwater Dives, which are very rewarding, especially if you have the right camera for it (fast Auto Focus, which is unfortunately not the case with my camera) so that I only did such a dive once. You can discover unglablich fascinating creatures there!
About the dive sites: my interest is pretty much exclusively in the macro area too, so the dive sites (no current!) were selected accordingly. It is possible to make very productive dives even from the beach of the resort. A part of the night dives (obligatory for me) we did from there. A maximum of 4 dives per day are possible; Nitrox is offered.
On the total of about 100 dives I did there, we therefore did not visit beautiful coral reefs, but typical muck diving sites. For me this was the optimal decision, but if you want to see really untouched coral reefs, you can do this, especially in the northwest of Bali (mini approached). However, one should first find out whether this is optimally possible from this resort.
Although the famous "Liberty Wreck" is reachable from the resort in 10 min by boat, I have the impression that adventure and Tec divers (inside) are better off in other resorts. For people interested in biology, Villa Markisa is one of the best resorts I have seen so far. I hope to be able to explore the UW landscapes there again soon.

The report is based on a 10-day stay. We have exclusively (on our own request!!) made Muck-Dives. Only because of this we did not see any beautiful coral reefs. Per day 4 dives are possible: morning: 2; afternoon: 1; night dive: 1. The base also has a lot of experience with BlackwaterDives (which are also offered). The care by the dive guides is excellent. In our TG there was a maximum of 2 divers with one guide. The guides have a lot of experience with the organisms that can be found in the different biotopes and advise the photographers in time about the equipment that is optimal for the dive. Under water the guides show extremely much and give valuable tips. Excellent for people interested in biology! Also vertebrates (turtles, Molo mola) were sighted.
