The hotel unfortunately did not meet our expectations.
Rooms: The rooms were very old and needed to be renovated. However, it was clean and the beds were very comfortable.
Food: Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing. There were very often the same dishes, all unseasoned and extremely bland. It is very much geared towards the Italian and Polish clientele, who have the upper hand. More local food instead of pasta, pizza and chips would be desirable. Also, everything is self-service, including the drinks. This is not a bad thing, but we would have liked a certain level of service
Service: very mixed. There was very friendly staff but also very unfriendly staff where you had the feeling that you were "disturbing" them. When we arrived we had to insist on getting two room cards at reception, which was very tedious (as they normally only give one per room and were not flexible enough to accommodate our requests for flexibility). Then the air conditioning broke and was only repaired after four requests.
Dive center: the dive center manager was away when we arrived and her replacement did little to make us feel welcome. We were given no introduction to how the diving operation works and we had to ask for everything. We also received little attention during the checkdive when my colleague had problems. However, the crew on the boat were super nice, in a great mood and we felt very comfortable. We gave the leader our feedback directly when she came back (unfortunately on our last day). Basically a good diving center, but our first impression was unfortunately very unfortunate.
Dive sites: to be honest, we had hoped for a bit more based on the descriptions we had read. The water was extremely warm at 31/32 degrees, maybe it was also too hot for the fish :) What we saw was nice, but not necessarily that we would want to go there again.
All in all, we wouldn't go to Wadi Lahmy again, mainly because of the hotel/clientele/especially the food.
Also, the transfer is 2.5-3 hours because of the bad roads. I would definitely go to another resort, closer to Marsa Alam, it's not worth the long journey, and I think there are more beautiful dive sites there too
